I got to go riding just before the snow fell at Table Rock with Jerry Vanderpool from HTS Rep Group and check out the new KHS DH 650 while we were there.
Jerry was doing his initial set up and getting the feel of the bike, so I only pedalled it around a little to get an initial impression and let him have at it for the rest of the time. I am a solid 40-50 pounds heavier than Jerry too, so his suspension settings would bottom out everywhere for me and not be a fair assessment along with me causing damage jumping and riding hard that way.
My initial impressions though were extremely positive. It’s really hard to go wrong with Fox 40 forks, Fox DHX2 rear shock, 27.5s, and a 63 degree head angle. The Full Floater rear suspension system did not bob when pedalling hard and felt very plush. It reminds me in both feel and in design of the Suzuki Full Floater that it’s evidently named after.
All top shelf components including Spank Spike wheels and bars, MRP chain guide, and Saint Cranks etc round out the package very well. Ergonomically the bike felt perfect. Fit and finish was spot on, as it should be.
The hardest part of the day was to stop riding long enough to snap a few pictures. The bikes were riding great, we were riding some of the more fun trails in the area, and Jerry is just SO FUN to ride with. This bike is an absolute winner.
